Smeding's New Ford Stroker Crate Engine Produces 380 Horsepower
Rancho Cordova, CA July 11, 2004 -- Smeding Performance introduces the Ford 347Extreme. This reliable, low-maintenance stroker crate engine produces 380 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 395 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm. With the torque only a stroker can produce, it's easy to feel the difference between the Smeding 347 Extreme and a 302.
This Smeding engine is not a rebuild. It features a brand-new Ford block and all-new top-quality components from top to bottom.
The Smeding Ford 347 Extreme boasts such premium parts as full roller valve gear, specially modified Edelbrock cylinder heads with 2.02/1.60 valves, an Edelbrock RPM air gap intake manifold, a nodular-iron crankshaft, 4130 forged "I" Bean with 3/8' ARP Wavelock Bolt, light-weight forged pistons with moly rings.
Smeding's 347 Extreme crate engine is perfect for those who want more power without sacrificing durability. For instance, it features 9.7:1 compression, so it can run all day long on pump gas with no problems. Plus, to reduce maintenance demands, Smeding uses a hydraulic roller camshaft. There's no valve lash to set, so vehicle owners can treat this engine just like the one in a brand-new vehicle. The street performance engine spins to a maximum rpm of 6,000. It even comes with a one-year warranty.
Smeding sells the Ford 347 Extreme stroker crate engine for $5,495. Plus, the company will ship this engine anywhere in the continental U.S. or Hawaii for just $160.
